S2 – #6 Lift up your Countenance!

Face of A Clown
© 1994, 2005 Michele Vidor Krile

You had the knack of making everyone laugh
Now you talk about the news, ‘bout the rain
About your job, but never your pain
You can’t let go, yet won’t talk about your past

You cover for others and do more than your share
Yet accepting the credit, you simply can’t bare
The moment one notices the sadness in your eyes
You deny a need of friends, help from those who care
And keep the real you locked under disguise

Feigning a smile, heart to frown
Hiding hurts as the days go ‘round
Using a chuckle, the tears to drown
You’re wearing the face of a clown

You’ve a time ago gone through the mill
Taken high measures to please another’s will
Now deep inside, brokenness looms
In the masquerade you seem to assume

What once was a rainbow on your face,
You’re letting become a veil of doom
Between yourself and others, you keep your space
But the distance you’ve created from everyone else
Is really a chasm within your true self

Feigning a smile, heart to frown
Bearing it alone as the days go ‘round
Using a chuckle, the tears to drown
Who are you under that face of a clown?

No wonder you try to hide that emptiness inside
Your fading dreams, you thought you’d thrown out
And the liveliness you used to spread around
Has been sadly replaced by that face of a clown

So little trust, so many doubts
Under that shroud over your soul
You’ve thought, “What’s the use?”
Now you’re ready to sink into
The glass you once deemed half-full

Barely a smile, starting to frown
Afraid of who you are as the days go ‘round
Still using a chuckle, the tears to drown
Terrified to rid of that face of a clown

You got lost in life looking for love
But you can rise above, more just than cope
You see, life and love can be found
If you look into the Eyes of eternal Hope

You can drop the facades that drag you down
When you learn of God’s grace that can lift you up
In the unveiling of Truth, you can be daringly you
As you accept Jesus’ peace and victory
Finally, you’ll gladly shed that face of a clown

You can wear a true smile, let go of fears
God cares for you, so you can lay it all down
He knows your needs, He holds your tears
Let His healing replace that face of a clown

Good riddance to that ole face of a clown!

I wrote this with a few people in mind, one in particular who quietly endured what a little girl never should have. Though a Christian, she then later chose a partner no one should be with, yet never complains.

For those of us who have deep hurts, deep losses or deep loneliness, it can be difficult to share our burdens. But most of us know that we are not meant to suffer alone, but “bear one another’s burdens…” We need to seek out healthy, safe relationships where we can begin or continue our healing process. God uses mentors and friends to be Counselor to us.

Spend quite time with the Lord in prayer and Bible reading. Give all your tears, pain, fears to him. Let His healing flow. Then like our study talks about in Week 6 of Breaking Free, when we give all of ourselves to the Lord, He will transform our ashes into beauty. Our pain into wholeness. Our shame into holiness. Why? Because He loves us more than we can ever imagine! Jesus holds your tears in the palms of His hands. He is moved to compassion for all . How? Because Jesus bore it all to break all chains and mend all broken hearts. He is your Healer, right there with you, right now. Arise from those ashes, my friend. Lift up your countenance. Look to heaven where we will all soon be with no more pain, with the Lamb who was slain, forever in victory!

This will be a short devotional, as my shoulder and neck pain has been relentless last few days and I am tired.

Scripture to Guide You

Galations 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Psalm 112:4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.  http://www.biblestudytools.com/nkjv/psalms/112-4.html

As I pray that God continues inner healing in me, I will pray also for healing in all of you.

I leave you with my latest…

Journey to You
© 2007, 2012 Michele Krile

Oh Lord, You know all my afflictions
You’re in control within these conditions
I am frightened of the unknown, this be true
I’ve grown so weary that I can only rest upon You

I’ve known pain and lonliness and loss
And I count the cost, that of the cross you bore
There is nothing missing when I look to You
To uplift my soul and heal those old gashes

With Your beauty you’ll replace all those ashes
Ashes of sadness, of loss, of scars, of debts
Ashes of doubts, of worries, ashes of regrets
As I journey to You, You alone make me whole
